Colorado 2013
Bear Trap Ranch
Colorado Rocky Mountains
Summer has past and fall is just about finished in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Bear Trap Ranch is a nice place to spend the weekend and enjoy nature. It is only 40 minutes west of Colorado Springs. The drive is really nice, you travel up Old Stage Road from the Broadmoor Hotel. The road is dirt and seasonal. It is still open this time of year, however, due to the rain this year they have been working on the road. The road has been repaired several miles past Bear Trap Ranch. It is best traveled in the day time if it has snowed. After the sun goes down it gets very cold, very quickly and ice builds up in the shaded areas. Remember uphill has the right-of-way. Last friday evening the moon put on a really good show from the road. This photograph hardly touches on how nice it actually was.
There were some color’s left in the Aspen and the surrounding foliage. At nearly 10,000 feet the Rocky Mountains have already seen some snow. There is still snow standing in the shaded area’s and it is getting brisk out at night-time. Ummm…the smell of pine trees and clean fresh air. Nice!
This is just one area of the multitude of places to go in the Colorado Rocky mountains. The choices are just overwhelming and you do not have to go far to enjoy what nature has to offer around these parts of the country. Here are some additional photos from the weekend, enjoy and “Happy Trails.”
